Monét and Pete’s wedding at Ivy Black Weddings in Duluth, MN was one of those days that felt so full of love, laughter, and a little northern Minnesota magic. These two were the definition of go-with-the-flow. After months of planning, they were so ready to just be married and celebrate with their people. Which made the whole day just so full of joy and excitement.
Monét and Pete met at Bemidji State thanks to a mutual friend who introduced them at Moondance Music Festival, and their story came full circle in Duluth, where Pete proposed on the Canal Park boardwalk. How romantic! Their wedding day felt like a beautiful reflection of their story. Laid-back, real, and filled with love from start to finish.
The morning started slow and cozy, as Monét got ready with her girls in the hotel. She even surprised everyone with matching sweatsuits (1000/10 idea, everyone was obsessed!), and the vibe was pure calm-before-the-party. The morning rolled into some of my favorite moments; a first look with her dad, another with her brother (I still can’t get over that photo of her mom peeking out the window), and then a private first look with Pete at their ceremony site in the woods. Just the two of them, surrounded by fall colors and that crisp autumn air. It couldn’t have been more perfect.
Their ceremony took place beneath the trees, followed by cocktails and cozy moments inside Ivy Black’s stunning and warm modern interior. This venue really doesn’t need much, the natural beauty does all the talking. I loved the personal touches they added, like naming each table after a Minnesota lake and having their wedding party (and their partners!) at the head table. And can we talk about that grazing board during cocktail hour? It was a huge hit!
After the ceremony, the venue owner handed Monét and Pete cocktails and sent them upstairs for a quiet moment together. Newly married, just the two of them, husband and wife. I snuck in a few photos on the balcony before leaving them to soak it in, and it was honestly one of my favorite parts of the day. It was an absolute honor and a joy to document Monét + Pete’s wedding day. Thank you so much for having me!
